back and worse than ever

23/05/26 - 18:12

i managed to convince myself to come back and i don't know what to say.
i stayed away basically just because i didn't wanna flood my site with depression. also i didn't have a laptop for like 2 months.
Bought a new laptop like 3 weeks ago. i didn't realise that it was 16:10 until i bought it. i would say that it's abhorrent and disgusting but honestly, i'm more or less used to it now
back in my hometown, trying not to go insane. we moved out of the house we've lived in since 2014 :< so between that and moving back from uni, i don't know where any of my shit is.

bideo james

i've played through a few games in my absence that i would like to talk about (in the order that i played them in)

metroid: samus returns box art

metroid: episode II – return of the samog

my first metroid game. really solid metroidvania experience. big thumbs up. i got tantalisingly close to 100%ing it but it didn't seem like i'd be able to without following a guide :<. ridley's too big for smash :0

portal 2 box art

portal of the second variety (minor spoilers)

about a yearish ago, i played through all of portal 1 in a day and loved it. the next day i played through portal 2 and stopped in the room where you get a certain potato about 65% of the way through the game (depicted here). looking back, my expectation of a game that could be finished in a day, paired with the fact that i had done nothing but portaling and sleeping for 2 days, definitely burnt me out of portal until recently when i decided to give it another go. i played it over about 3 days and watched the nearly two hour portal 2 musical afterwards so i may've liked it a bit or smth like that. i love Wheatley. i love glados. cave is aight, i pointed and pogged when he talked about the lemons because i didn't know that that monologue came from this game. such peak, can't wait to read the after hours and play through the dev commentary at some point cause i'm a nerd :>

minecraft box art

mineandcraft

it feels kinda weird including minecraft here. it's a sandbox and i still intend to continue playing in my forever world but i did recently beat the ender dragon and roll credits for the first time so it fits. i know this take is probably colder than my heart #emo #killme #thisjokeisfuckingstupid but minecraft really is a generational piece of art. it's so cozy and like riding a bike. i truly don't think i will never not have a minecraft bone in my body. i might start including minecraft screenshots or maybe even just any game screenshots at the end of blog posts, that seems fun.

venba box art

venba (too niche for a funny title)

really cute and heartfelt little story where you follow venba and her family's life story through cooking :>.
hypothesis: canadian indie devs write the best video game stories
testing sample: celeste, a short hike and venba
findings: yes
conclusion: move to canada

i think it would be fun to start writing game reviews whenever i finish games.

in other news, i got into writing a bit of poetry/rap :>. idk if any of it will ever leave my notebook.

crow with ms paint crow on head

Got rid of the miniblog. i thought it was nice, but i think i'll just keep those thoughts to my journal. i want to start using tooltips. i also want to give this place a new crowt of paint (mspaint crows :>). i also changed my mii a bit.

ok i think i've run out of wordage. goodbye for now.
